The chairs of the RC societies with a constitution have produced a 'modus operandi' setting out some principles which we believe should be regulation the relationship between the Club, as represented by the General Committee and the societies (and groups) themselves.

Note  that our May meeting, on the 25th of the month, will feature Geoff Targett and not Giles Yeo as originally publicized. We hope to hold our AGM at 5:30pm on the evening of this meeting. Papers for the AGM will be available on the website in the near future.
We welcome Geoff Targett to our May meeting. There is just time to book if you're quick!

Our last meeting was on the 21st April with Graham Rook. This was extremely well received. A copy of the powerpoint presentation is available for those who missed it, or those who wish to examine it in more detail. Please email me for a copy. Steve Hemingway.
Hot on the heels of our May meeting is our June meeting with David Nutt. Interest in this has been considerable. I strongly urge you to book early, via the General Office to avoid missing out.

Note that we welcome members to attend just for the talk. There is no charge for this.

About Us

The Reform Club Science and Technology Group was formed in July 2006 by a group of Club members who felt that prompted by a sense that almost all contemporary issues have a scientific or technological dimension. Our first speaker was Baroness Susan Greenfield giving a talk to us entitled "Ageing and the Brain" on 6th February 2007.

The group’s focus is on the social and ethical implications of science and technology, rather than the complexities of the science itself. we aim to generate a high level of debate and dialogue, helping us all to get to grips with the real scientific issues behind the headlines we all see every day.

Speakers have come from all over the world, bringing a wide variety expertise. Unlike so many forums for debate, the Group benefits from a position of total independence from the scientific and political establishments, so that discussion about social and economic implications can be carried out in a spirit of open enquiry.
